Board of Directors

John Campbell

Chaiman, Primeast India
John is an organisational development consultant and executive coach with many years experience of enabling organisations, teams and individuals grow and to deliver exceptional performance.

John’s focus is on working in the board room with individuals and teams through diagnosis, challenge and support. His business experience enables him to provide insight and yet leave ownership of action with the client. Over 20 years of leading projects concentrating on organisational and individual change across the world gives John a breadth of experience to offer clients as they strive for exceptional performance in changing circumstances.

John is a founding director of Primeast. His role has been to forge the identity and development of the business, around the core focus of developing leadership, change implementation and team development. He has been on the IOD national coaching team for eight years. Previously, John was a director of Scottish and Newcastle Breweries for eight years with various responsibilities for wholesale, retail and marketing of a major subsidiary. During this time the businesses he ran posted exceptional results. John was also involved in several takeover research projects. Prior to this, John spent eighteen years in the production side of Courage brewers, with six years as a General Manager with responsibilities for several major change projects.

Venkatesh Desai

Board Member
Venkatesh Desai has been associated with the Management / HR consulting field for over 10 years. A self-made entrepreneur Venkatesh’s vision is to help organizations to be more effective through people involvement. He shares a thought similar to one provided by Swami Vivekananda:

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success”.

In his past experience, he was Head of Human Resources for Tetra Laval India - the group involved Tetra Pak,Alfa Laval, LKM and Saunders Valves, several multi-national companies based in Pune. At Alfa Laval, an inspiring project he led was the Asian Competency Mapping project. In addition, he also held the position of Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Alfa Laval.

Gary Edwards

Board Member
Gary, one of the founding Directors of Primeast, specialises in the area of leading, managing and motivating virtual or remote teams – what leaders need to do to move them to the high performance that fast changing business environments demand.

Since 1989 Gary has been leading and developing programmes that address key business issues as a consultant and external facilitator with senior teams and project teams with both a UK and international dimension. His experience has given him clear insights into how teams work, what they require to succeed – including not only effectiveness in the requirements of Leadership, but also how excellence in ‘Team Followership’ brings about outstanding results.

His passion for unlocking what individuals can contribute through insightful, empathic leadership has added value to many people and their organisations. Gary’s experience includes three years with Operation Raleigh, the worldwide expedition charity for young people as the UK selection and training team manager. Juggling the priorities of different stakeholders – staff, commercial sponsors, volunteers, candidates and local authorities – a constant challenge in motivation and delivery of results. Selecting the right people and training them well was vital to the success of the projects in countries around the world.

Gary has applied the Faust methodology with many business teams including a major utility and in the media industry. The thinking behind EI and its supporting methodologies are essential aspects of Primeast’s approach to consulting.

Sunil Tandon

Board Member
Sunil Tandon spearheads Ariston's investment banking venture, and is also responsible for strategic advice in corporate development. A former Indian Administrative Service Officer, Mr. Tandon has held senior positions in state and central governments, including Secretary to the Union Minister of State for Finance. He joined as Managing Director of the Port of Pipavav in 1997, where he helped conceive and implement the first private port and the first private rail projects in India . Since then, he has worked in top management positions such as Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of large infrastructure companies like Gujarat Pipavav Port Limited, Sea King Infrastructure Limited, GMR Infrastructure Limited, promoting Public-Private Partnerships and establishing large infrastructure projects. He has been advisor to GOI and state/provincial governments of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra . His specialized areas of experience include setting up of l arge infrastructure projects (Airports, Railways, Expressways, Special Economic Zones), Project Management and Project Finance, Joint Ventures, Mergers and Acquisitions and Public Administration and advising Corporates on risk mitigation strategies for large projects. He also advises Corporates on organisation development strategies and HR issues. Mr Tandon has a Masters in Business Administration, from Strathclyde Business School , UK with specialization in Financial Management.

Robin Wood

Board Member
With more than thirty years experience in international business and industry Robin has worked extensively all over the world, training and consulting with many of the largest and most influential companies in Europe, Middle East, Asia and North & South America. In 1997, he took over as President and CEO of Praendex Europe SA based in Switzerland, of which PI Europe is a 100% owned subsidiary before moving the organisation to the UK in 2004. In 2011 he returned to Switzerland and runs the company from his base in Cully.

Prior to his work with PI Europe, Robin worked in International HR for Tetra Pak, where he was responsible for recruitment and management development worldwide, supporting the international growth of the company.

Bhushan Desai

Managing Director
Bhushan Desai, a MBA graduate from Boston University School of Management with specialization in Marketing, leads Primeast’s efforts in the India looking after sales, business development, marketing and operations for the region. Bhushan also leads the overall business strategy and marketing efforts of Primeast India.

Prior to joining Primeast India, Bhushan has worked in the management consulting field for two years, handling business development. He has also held the position of Global Product Manager for a manufacturing organization in the US where he led key projects for several product lines. Prior to this he has also worked for a manufacturing organization in India in the marketing function having experience in new product launch, project management and brand management.

Bhushan also holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, Pune.
